Freedom Cycle Rally resumes from Kolkata

The 3000-km Freedom Cycle Rally organised by Assam Rifles as part of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebrations which started from Shillong on September 5 reached Kolkata on September 11 on its seventh day and resumed the journey from Kolkata on Monday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the rally reached Kolkata from Nabagram, West Bengal after covering a total of 216 Km in one day.
On Sunday, under "Fit India Movement" a yoga programme was organised at NCC Club House, Kolkata in which 50 NCC cadets, 5 officers, 1 JCO and 40 OR participated.
The programme was followed by a tree plantation drive under "Green India Mission" .
The cycle team also visited Victoria Memorial and other historically famous places related to India's freedom struggle, the PRO said".
The rally resumed its journey on Monday and was flagged off by Bengal Area GOC major general Satbir Singh.
The flagging off ceremony had the participation of three freedom fighters and eight NOKs who were felicitated by the GOC.
In a unique initiative by Assam Rifles, the freedom fighters were also facilitated to visit the Eastern Command Museum.
The cycle rally has covered a total of 1115 km till date and will culminate at New Delhi on October 2.En-route to the national capital, the rally participants will cover important places associated with India's freedom movement, the PRO added.
