Silk farmers' training

A one-day farmers' training programme on eri Silk was held at Project Management Complex, Sangaipat today with Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam an Director (Sericulture) H Ginjamang Simte gracing the inauguration function as the chief guest and president respectively.
Jaipur-based National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Govt of India's Deputy Director Dr Ramesh Mittal and Scientist-D, RTRS, CSB, Imphal K Chaoba Singh were the guests of honour.
The training programme is a joint initiative of Central Muga Eri Research & Training Institute, Govt of India, Jorhat, CCS NIAM and Department of Sericulture, Manipur.
Conveying that the Sericulture Department has been taking a number of measures, including awareness programmes, to increase silk (muga) production in the State, Govindas Konthoujam in his brief address also called upon the silk farmers to contact sericulture department officials if there is any need for material or technical assistance.
As part of the programme a technical session for attending scientists was also organised.
