Education Minister opens Class XI at Kangvai Hr Sec School

Education Minister, Th Basanta Singh today attended the commencement of Class-XI at Kangvai Higher Secondary School with at least two students immediately getting themselves enrolled for the new class.
The event marking the commencement of higher classes at Kangvai Hr Sec School also saw the felicitation of students who have cleared Class-X from the school since its establishment in 1964 .
Henglep MLA, Letzamang Haokip; Additional Director of Education (S/Hills), Alfred Jamlallun Khaute, and ZEO Churachandpur, N Chingkhei Singh also attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, Th Basanta stated it was his first stint as a chief guest since he assumed the responsibility of State Education Department.
"Though attending school events was not my priority, the invitation of the local MLA to inaugurate higher classes for the only Higher Secondary School within Henglep sub-division was something I can't ignore", he added.
Expressing his desire to revamp the State education system, the Minister stated that it is hard for the State to emulate the likes of New Delhi as there is a vast shortage of teachers and budget allocation.
"Nevertheless, with the available resources at the State's disposal, the department is trying hard to improve the same", he asserted.
It may be mentioned that Kangvai Hr Sec School was started as a High School in 1964.It was upgraded to Higher Secondary School in 2015 but commencement of actual class could be materialised only this year.
The school currently functioning with 31 teachers has a remarkable HSLC 2022 result as out of the 27 students that appeared in the exam, 9 passed in First Division, 9 in Second Division and the remaining 9 got compartment.
