'Block Health Mela' begins across State

Bishnupur districts' first Block Health Mela was inaugurated on Monday by Minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh at Community Health Centre, (CHC) Nambol for Nambol block.
The Block Health Mela was organized by District Health Society, Bishnupur under the "100 Days Action Plan" of the State Government and as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebration.
Bishnupur District having 3 blocks will organize the health mela at Bishnupur District Hospital for Bishnupur Block on April 20; and CHC Moirang for Moirang Block on April 22 .
Speaking on the occasion, Th Basanta Kumar expressed his satisfaction at the well-maintained condition of the CHC and stated that efforts will be made to further equip the health centre with various pertinent facilities like trauma centre in view of the growing incidence of road mishaps in consultation with CMO and medical experts.

He also inspected the 30 stalls set up by various line departments in the district such as Information Education Communication (IEC) and Awareness Generating Stalls as well as Clinical Stalls which will avail screening, testing, treatment and counselling facilities.
Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Lourembam Bikram said that the main objective for organizing the Block Health Mela was to create awareness among the public regarding various health schemes provided by the Government like Chief Minister's Health for All Scheme (CMHA) and Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) among others.
The Health Melas will serve as a platform to avail quality healthcare services along with essential medicines and diagnostics services, he added.
SDO Nambol, Khumukcham Renuka, CMO Bishnupur, Dr L Raichandra Singh, DLOs, officials concerned and staff of the medical department of the district also attended the function.
CHANDEL
Minister L Sushindro has categorically stated that the newly elected MLAs and Ministers have urged the Chief Minister to increase the Local Area Development Fund and oil quotas for MLAs of hill districts to bring equal development in the hills and valley.
L Sushindro made the statement while addressing a Block Health Mela jointly organised by District Administration Chandel and District Health Society Chandel at Komlathabi PHC in Komlathabi, Chandel district.
Minister Dr S Ranjan, Minister H Dingo, Chandel AC MLA SS Olish and Deputy Commissioner Chandel M Rajkumar also attended the programme as presidium members.
It may be mentioned that 24 stalls were set up by various line departments of the district at the mela to provide various facilities to the public.
KANGPOKPI
Block Health Society Sadar Hills East, Saikul also organised a Block Health Mela at Hoikhonei Multipurpose hall, Thangkanphai village, Saikul Block in Kangpokpi district today.
It was attended by Saikul AC MLA, Kimneo Haokip Hangshing and DC Kangpokpi, Kengoo Zuringla as presidium members.
At the event, Kengoo Zuringla informed that the mela will be held from April 18-22 in various parts of the district and urged the people of Kangpokpi to avail the benefits of the event.
Expressing her gratitude to the village chief and villagers for their cooperation, the DC also mentioned that a total of 22 stalls were opened at the mela providing various facilities like Covid vaccination, health check up, distribution of free medicines, etc.
Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, CMO; Bungba Maibam Khuman, SDO Saikul & chairman Block Health Society, Saikul; health officials, DLOs and CSOs also took part in the mela.
It may be mentioned that a similar Block Health Mela will be organised by District Health Society Champhai Block, Kangpokpi District at Keithelmanbi Community Hall (KMC) on Tuesday.
NONEY
District Administration Noney in collaboration with District Health Society, Noney also organised a Block Health Mela at Multipurpose Hall, Longmai III, Noney district.
It was attended by chairman Longmai Area Council, Adai Dangmei; chairman Longmai Village Authority, Kasaigai Gangmei and Chief Medical Officer Noney, Dr Edwin Golmei as presidium members.
The programme began with a welcome address by DPO Noney (AIDS), Dr Louisa Golmei and keynote by Dr Edwin Golmei.
Dr Thaimei Gairanlung, SDO Noney; Dr Z Kamei, DMO Noney; RK Bijeta Devi, District Program Manager Noney; Doctors, Nurses, ASHA and Anganwadi workers of Noney district also took part in the event.
THOUBAL
District Administration Thoubal and District Health Society, Thoubal also jointly organised a Block Health Mela for Wangjing Tentha Block at Ibudhou Yotningthou Laikol Community Hall, Heirok.
Speaking on the occasion, Heirok AC MLA, Dr Th Radheshyam lauded the medical fraternity and other departments for their dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also urged the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle by avoiding intoxicating food including tobacco items.
A Subhash, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal also spoke on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that 30 stalls were opened, CMHT & Ayushman cards and menstruation kits were distributed at the Mela.
The programme was attended by CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul Singh, Medical Superintendent Thoubal Dr Th Memcha Devi, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers among others.
As part of the Block Health Mela, District Food Safety Officer Thoubal deployed mobile Food Testing Vans along with stalls to generate awareness of the "Eat Right Movement" in India.
Demonstrations were conducted by officials and staff of the department on food safety.
Similar block Health mela will be conducted for Lilong Block on April 20 and Thoubal Block on April 22 at PHC Lilong Campus and Ibudhou Tangjeng Ningthou Laikol Community Hall, Thoubal Kiyam respectively.
TENGNOUPAL
District Administration Tengnoupal and District Health Society Tengnoupal also jointly organised a Block Health Mela at 50-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital in Moreh Heinoumakhong Leikai Ward No 7 .
It was attended by DC Tengnoupal, Mannuamching; SP Tengnoupal, B Golianmang; and CMO Tengnoupal, Dr Kh Gojen as presidium members.
Community leaders, students organisations, and health staff of Moreh also took part in the programme.
A total of 20 stalls were set up by various departments at the health mela.
UKHRUL
Outer Manipur Lok Sabha MP, Dr Lorho S Pfoze on Monday inaugurated the Ukhrul Block Health Mela at Mission ground Alungtang, Ukhrul.
The inaugural function was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar; CMO Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A' Shimray; Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) president, Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi, and health staff of ukhrul.
At the event, Dr Pfoze expressed his gratitude to the District Health Society for hosting the health mela for the benefit of the people.
Dr Kapangring A' Shimray informed that the health mela will be held in 4 blocks of Ukhrul district as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.
Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi stated that Ukhrul is blessed with a clean environment and has the potential to become a site for health tourism.
Meanwhile, Hunphun/Ukhrul Students Union submitted a memorandum to the visiting Parliamentarian requesting his intervention in upgrading the AIR station into a local Radio/ FM station; and expedite the construction of the Scheduled tribe Boys & Girls hostel at Greenland, Ukhrul.
