Sensitisation programmes on NEP held

A one day sensitisation programme on 'National Education Policy, 2020: Higher Secondary Education' was held today at Manipur College.
The programme jointly organised by State Project Directorate, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and Manipur College was attended by L Lokeshwor, mayor, IMC; Ng Nongyai, president, Manipur College Alumni Association and former member, Manipur Human Rights Commission; Dr W Shavmbhunath Singh, principal, Manipur College and Dr M Suresh Singh, member core team, Directorate of University and Higher Education as presidium members.
Dr N Somorendro, coordinator, IQAC highlighted the important visions and features of higher education aspect of New Education Policy (NEP), 2020 including steps to be taken up by the Governments, colleges and universities in his key note address.
Dr M Suresh Singh presented the basic components of higher education in NEP with a powerpoint presentation and mentioned the importance of multidisciplinary colleges, revamping in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and students support, role of quality teachers, equity and access, online education, necessity for using technology in higher education, 4 years undergraduate programme with multiple exit points etc.
as mentioned in NEP.
An interactive session was also held as part of the event.
Similar programmes were also held today at Yangambam Kumar College, Wangjing, Don Bosco College, Maram and Waikhom Mani Girls College, Thoubal.
At the event, Mentor of NAAC 2.5 Mission Dr Th Tilakraj spoke on " Sensitization on NEP 2020- Higher Education Reforms " while Associate Professor N Rupa Devi of the Department of Education deliberated on "Early Childhood Care and Education: The Foundation Stone for Child's Learning and Holistic Development".
The event at Waikhom Mani Girls' College Thoubal was held under the sponsorship of the Directorate of University and Higher Education.
