Heingang Hannaching Chingkhong - Pangei bazar road construction; Public demand due emphasis on quality

Residents of Heingang Hannaching alleged that quality is compromised in the construction of Heingang Hannaching Chingkhong - Pangei bazar road.
The road plays a very important role in the day-to-day life of the people living in the area.
Members of Ibodhou Marjing Hannaching Leikai Information Cultural and Social Welfare Library United Club (IMSUC) expressed their displeasure over the road condition.
The route stretching for about 4.65 kms was constructed under the PMGSY with a total budget of Rs 2.35 crore.
Deeply troubled and displeased with the quality of the road construction, residents along with club members informed the media that quality is not maintained.
Upon inspection it was learnt that some sections of the road were neglected.
Stating that the residents of the area are not happy with the way the road has been constructed, secretary of IMSUC, P Ranjit urged the authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure quality maintenance.
He further stated that if the road is not revamped as per the norms, the club will cease the road construction and take up legal action against the contractors concerned.
Meanwhile, a sub contractor of the road L Robichandra said, "Public is not happy with our work, it is our duty to maintain the quality of the road and on the behalf of the construction team, we are willing to fully co- operate with the public and work accordingly to their wish" .
"We will try to finish the road before the monsoon begins," he added.
The club members along with the sub-contractors held an open discussion today and arrived at an understanding.
Accordingly, correctional work will commence from tomorrow.
Besides the road construction, the public of the are not pleased with the River Lift Irrigation scheme implemented in 2014 by the PHED in the area which is yet to be finished.
Pipes are left open and exposed on the road causing hazard to commuters.
President of BJP Heingang Mandal S Sonujam Libel said, "The water pipes that were fitted in 2014 is still left to be complete, the pipes are still left on the road posing safety hazards to motorists.
We want the authority concerned to look into the matter and take immediate action.
If not it will be reported to the higher authority" .
