Leishemba Sanajaoba highlights importance of safeguarding sacred sites of 'Umang Lai'

Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba has expressed that the Meitei/Meetei community are firm believers of Umang Lai (sylvan deities) and stressed on the importance of safeguarding sacred sites of Umang Lai.
He made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the newly constructed building of Ima Haoshoi Lairembi at Top Upokpi in Wangoi Assembly Constituency today.
He further maintained that it is believed till date that the Meetei/Meitei villages are safeguarded by the sylvan deities.
He went on to state that 'Ima Haoshoi Lairembi' is closely related with the historical site of Haosoipat and five sacred sites of 'Irong' .

The MP while expressing contentment over the completion of the new building of Ima Haoshoi Lairembi lauded the contributions made by the former Minister Oinam Lukhoi towards the construction of the building and wished him success in all his future endeavours.
With regards to the memorandum submitted by the locals requesting for the construction of a community building next to Ima Haoshoi Lairembi building, the MP assured to take up all possible measures to construct the same after consulting the relevant departments and the former Minister O Lukhoi.
Speaking at the event, O Lukhoi maintained that during his tenureship as a former MLA of Wangoi AC, buildings have been constructed at five important sacred sites of the constituency including Ima Haoshoi Lairembi.
He further assured that he will continue to work with dedication for the welfare of the residents of Wangoi AC.
O Lukhoi also informed that most of the pending welfare activities which were taken up during his tenure are almost complete and will be handed over to the public soon.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Manipur State Cooperative Union Chairman, L Tompishak, senior citizen, Longjam Ibomcha and wife of O Lukhoi, Oinam ongbi Luxmi as the presidium members.
