Irawat's associate M Ibohal passes away

Moirangthem Ibohal alias MI, who was a close associate of Jananeta Irawat, breathed his last on Monday at his Top Khongnang Makhong residence.
He was 100 .
Manipur State Council, CPI paid highest respect to the departed leader by flying the party's flag at half-mast at Irawat Bhavan, here.
CPI central executive member Dr M Nara, state secretary L Thoiren, former secretary L Sotinkumar, executives and leaders of Nupi Marup also paid their respects to Ibohal.
A formal condolence meeting will be held at Irawat Bhavan on October 5 at 12.30 pm, according to a statement of MSC/CPI.
It urged all the members to attend the condolence meeting.
Moirangthem Ibohal, who was born on December 22, 1922, served as commander-in-chief of Irabot's revolutionary army Red Guard.
He was arrested on November 25, 1959 and sent to Alipore central jail, Kolkata.
He was then elected to the erstwhile Manipur Territorial Assembly from Sagolmang constituency in 1967 .
He was not only secretary of CPI Manipur but also served CPI national executive member.
Ibohal was also instrumental in the development of Communist party in Manipur, the statement said, adding that 'comrade' Ibohal took active role in Manipuri language movement and movement for repeal of AFSPA 1958 .
