144 CrPC imposed in Noney villages

The Noney district magistrate has declared enforcement of sub-section 144, CrPC, 1973 in the whole area of Bitang and Tupul (Charoichagotlong I & II) villages with immediate effect in order to prevent occurrence of unwanted incident due to tension over land dispute.
In a notification, district magistrate Joseph Pauline Kamson said reports have been received of likelihood of breach of peace, disturbance of public tranquillity and potential danger to the villagers of Bitiang (Laphok) and Tupul (Charoichagotlong I & II) on account of conflict of land dispute.
As such the prohibitory order has been issued in the said area as a preventive measure necessary to maintain law and order and to check any untoward incidents and breach of peace and tranquillity.
The assembly of five or more person, carrying of sword/stick or other sharp edged articles which may be used to cause harm and carrying of any firearms and other lethal weapons within the area of the two village, and also in the area of 2 KM radius around the two village would be restricted with effect from 11 AM to 11 PM until further orders, the DM informed.
