Architects assured registration on Online Building Permission

In connection with the observance of World Architecture Day, a one-day discussion on Protection of Title and Style of Architect and Architectural Firm' was organised by Manipur Architects' Forum at City Convention Centre, here, on Monday during which Manual of Architectural Practice' was also released.
MAHUD minister Y Khemchand, who was chief guest of the event, said that as taking up developmental projects require coordination of different government departments, both officials and employees of the departments concerned should work together to ensure efficient execution of the projects.
It is the responsibility of architects to construct beautiful buildings, localities and a beautiful society but their efforts would not be successful without the cooperation of those in similar field, he observed.
According to minister Khemchand, developed countries have adopted the culture of cleanliness and avoid throwing even empty packets of edibles on roads and public places but people of Manipur are yet to imbibe such culture and continue to nonchalantly litter roadsides and public places.
Unless the culture of cleanliness is developed among the people, public places in the state will remain an eyesore whatever beautiful structures the architects developed, he said.
Regarding demand being raised by architects to allow them registration for Online Building Permission, the minister assured of taking up necessary steps and said that the government will help architects in their endeavour to take the state forward.
The event presided over by Manipur Architects' Forum president Aribam Joychandra Sharma was also attended by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, joint secretary (finance/ DP/ACR) and Institutional Finance director Anna Arambam and Council of Architecture (India) 's Legal and Act Enforcement administrative officer Deepak Kumar as guests of honour.
During the event, Planning and Development Authority member N Ge-etkumar and A Joychandra Sharma, who has been conferred Kalabushan award by Manipur Sahitya Parishad, were honoured with simple gifts.
The discussion on Protection of Title and Style of Architect and Architectural Firm' was moderated by MU Economics Department head Dr Ch Priyoranjan while Council of Architecture, India administrative officer Deepak Kumar spoke as resource person.
