State Govt signs 39 MoUs with different enterprises during NEDS

The first North East Development Summit concluded today with the State Govt signing altogether 39 MoUs on different sectors with different Central Govt enterprises and companies/investors from other countries.
During the summit, which was inaugurated yesterday by President Ram Nath Kovind, deliberations on different areas of trade and investment, connectivity and infrastructure development, tourism and skill development, capacity building and entrepreneurship were held by about 150 delegates.
The MoUs were signed on thrust/areas like commerce and industries, health, forest, IT, tourism, agriculture, planning etc.
Addressing the valedictory function, Chief Minister N Biren said that the Summit was an effort to showcase and explore the potential of North East India in establishing itself as a 'land hub' of India's Act East Policy.
He said that the historic event marks the beginning of the State Govt's commitment towards collectively building enduring partnerships to address the aspirations of its people by unlocking the full potential of the State.
Biren also thanked all the partners for placing their trust and confidence on the new Government.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the positive outcomes from the summit will transform the business and development environment of the North East region in general and Manipur in particular.
Biren further assured investors that the State will put in all its efforts to ensure that their capital remain safe and productive.
The State Govt's representatives exchanged MoUs with firms/investors in the presence of the Chief Minister.
The valedictory function was also attended amongst others by Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar, MLA L Rameshore, Secretary of DoNER Naveen Verma, Secretary of Union Tourism and Culture Rashi Verma, Additional Chief Secretary of Manipur Dr J Suresh Babu and vice-chairman of Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA) M Asnikumar.
Meanwhile, a DIPR press release said that the State Forest Department signed fpur MoUs - two with HSMM Group for Agarwood plantation and production of essential oil, commercial production of orchids and essential oils.
The Department also signed MoU with NRL for production of biofuels from bamboo and with TRIFED for minimum support prices for minor forest produces.
Higher Education Department signed MoU with M/s UNESCO Center (UK) for setting up a private university in Manipur.
Finance Department signed MoU with INDO SWISS Center (Switzerland) for facilitating attracting investment, trade, tourism.
Agriculture Department signed MoU with MSTC for e-marketing of agricultural produces from Manipur.
Tourism Department signed MoU with Laos for Development of tourism.
Tourism Department also signed MoU with M/s Star Track Business House Pvt Ltd Mumbai for Infrastructure Development project for Rs 50 crore.
Manipur Police Housing Corporation (MPHC) signed MoU with M/s Fitzroy Salai Holdings, Kolkata for Cable Car Project.
