PAP further relaxed

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given its approval for relaxation of Protected Area Permit (PAP) system for Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland for another five more years.
PAP prohibits foreign Nationals from visiting some North Eastern States, including Manipur, without obtaining due permit from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to a highly placed source, PAP will be relaxed in the NE States of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram from Dec 31, 2017 to Dec 31, 2022 .
The Centre, however, may lift the relaxation when security concerns arise.
The source further said that citizens of Afghanistan, Pakistan and China will have to take prior approval from the MHA in order to get access to the three NE States.
In case, citizens of the three countries enter the NE States without permission from the Centre, action will be taken up under Foreigners Act.
Foreigners visiting Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram should get their names registered with the Foreigner Registration Officer (FRO) within 24 hours.
Violators will be punished under Foreigners Act.
Although PAP relaxation covers citizens of Myanmar, they should avail e-Tourist Visa from their Indian Missions or designated airports within 24 hours.
Details and purposes of registered Myanmar Nationals should be sent to the Joint Secretary (Foreigners Division), MHA by the Foreigners Registration Officers within 24 hours of their registration.
However, transit Myanmar Nationals need not to register.
