"NERCORMP project necessary to diversify and showcase potential crops"

Advisor of (Agriculture & Horticulture), North Eastern Council (NEC), M Iboyaima Meitei asserted the need of NERCORMP project for diversification of crops so that the potential crop items are showcased.
He stated this during the inauguration of the 11th District Level Exhibition cum Sales of NERCORMP, Ukhrul at TNL ground, Wino bazar, Ukhrul.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, he stressed on the emergence of NERCORMP project and its intervention for economic development of the rural sector, over the years, from the grassroots level.
He stated that the project will help diversify some of the potential crops and showcase so that is it benefited to the people in marketing, selling and consumption.
The chief guest also mentioned that the Project would be expanded to Chandel and Churachandpur districts and to vulnerable areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Project Manager, Tychicus Vashum stated the objective of organizing the three days programme is to tie up with the farmers/ traders so that their produce or crops are not wasted.
The NERCORMP team would adopt a correlation with the farmers so that they (farmers) get an opportunity to classify the potential crops and showcase them and in turn increase or improve their economy.
Meanwhile, bevies of young girls displayed agricultural and horticultural products of the district and special appearance from Tangkhul popular artists, Aso Kahaothei, traditional trumpet play, violin display enthralled the crowd.
According to the reports of Ukhrul NERCORMP project, it has benefited 11233 households in 172 villages of Ukhrul district, after 18 years of relentlessly efforts.
M Iboyaima cut the ribbon and declared open of the three days event from (22-24) in the presence ADC members, district level officers, while Rocky Anal attend as the guest of honour of the function.
Varieties of organic agricultural products, vegetables, fruits, handloom, wooden product, decoration piece etc were exhibited during the event.
Altogether 35 stalls including one from stall from Arunachal Pradesh, Changlang district participated in the exhibition cum sales event.
