COVID-19 claims one more to take total death tally to 139

The State's COVID-19 death toll has reached 139 following the death of a woman at RIMS during the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, a COVID-19 positive woman delivered a baby boy weighing 3 Kgs with the assistance of two nurses who were acting at the instruction of a doctor at RIMS trauma centre at around 11.40 am today.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 72-year old woman from Imphal East died at RIMS at around 3.30 pm yesterday.
She was admitted to the hospital on October 21 with complaints of breathing difficulty.
The spokesman informed that 140 persons including two personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Grace Nursing Home, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Jiribam, Imphal East, RD Wing, Ascent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Shija Hospital, CMC, Tamenglong, Advance Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Senapati and Jivan Hospital.
This is a sharp drop from the high of 426 cases recorded on October 17 and the 200 plus cases seen everyday for the past 10 days.
Of the 138 civilians who have been tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours, 44 belong to Imphal West, 33 to Imphal East, 24 to Thoubal, four to Jiribam, four to Kangpokpi, nine to Churachandpur, one to Tengnoupal, one to Noney, six to Bishnupur, six to Tamenglong, two to Chandel, two to Kakching and two to Senapati.
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 138 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (17), home isolation (6), JNIMS (6), RIMS (8), CCC Lamboi Khongnang-khong (4), CCC UNACCO (33), Lanva (3), Sadbhavna (2), RD Wing (4), Chandel (20), Moreh (2), Ukhrul (1), Bishnupur (2), Bal Bhavan (4), Senapati (9), Lamding (11) and Thoubal (6) .
The total COVID-19 positive cases have reached 17,162 (general population 14454, Central security personnel 2708) .
Out of these, 4166 (general population 3877, Central security personnel 289) are active cases while 12,857 COVID-19 positive people (general population 10,442 and Central security personnel 2415) have been discharged.
The recovery rate stands at 74.91 per cent, a nominal increase from 74.72 pc on October 24 .
Out of 51 people tested positive in Imphal West district today, five are residents of Khongnang Pheidekpi while three belong to Pishumthong, two to Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai and three to Keishamthong Top Leirak.
Two staff of Air India office are among the 51 people who tested positive.
