COVID-19 awareness campaign continues

The Peoples' Task Force For Covid-19, Indian Red Cross Society Manipur State Branch, Indian Medical Association(IMA) and Association For Health Care Providers Of India (AHPI) have been continuing organising Covid-19 awareness campaign in various localities and villages in the State.
Today, an awareness programme was held at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai in collaboration with Thangmeiband Athletic Union (THAU), said a release of PTFC-19.N Bimol, co-convenor, PTFC-19; Y Mohen, chairman, IRCS Manipur State Branch; N Ranjit, president, THAU and S Sunil, treasurer, IRCS Manipur State Branch attended the programme as resource persons and presidium members, the release said.
Resource persons speaking at the programme said the mortality rate and infection rate in the State keeps increasing and it is very alarming, it said.
The Government need to take up immediate steps to increase the health care capacity in the State and recruit the needed manpower at the earliest.
Close contact and primary contact tracing should be done in a more stringent manner.
Unable to trace the primary contacts timely is one of the main reasons in the surge of COVID-19 infections in the State, it continued.
They also appealed the people not to hide when they test positive for COVID-19, as well as people who have contacted with people who have tested Covid positive to come forward and not to hide it, it said.
Testing should be conducted for all who had close contact with Covid infected person.
In order to achieved this goal, the resource persons appealed to all the Covid task force at every localities to extend help.
Old aged people with comorbid condition should be given extra care by their family members, they added.
