5 yr old boy succumbs to Covid, 16 test positive

Imphal, April 08 2021:
COVID-19 has claimed a five year old boy in the State taking the death toll to 375 .
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, quoting a report from the COVID-19 death audit committee, informed that a five year old boy belonging to Bishnupur district died at Shija Hospital during the last 24 hours.
With a second wave sweeping across many States in the country, 16 persons including one CAPF personnel were tested positive in the State during the last 24 hours.
The new positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Bishnupur, Jiribam and Churachandpur.
The 15 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal East (3), Imphal West (3), Bishnupur (4), Jiribam (4) and Churachandpur (1) .
On the other hand, three COVID-19 positive persons were discharged from home isolation (2) and JNIMS (1) during the last 24 hours.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,463 (general population 26,011 and Central security personnel 3,452) .
It includes 87 active cases (general population 76 and Central security personnel 11) and 29,001 recovered cases (general population 25,564 and Central security personnel 3,437) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 98.43 per cent.
Air passengers who came to the State on April 6 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 1-6, April 7 by Indigo flight 6E-6358 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 2-8 and 6E-6181 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 4-10 and Air Asia flight I5 783 in rows 25-31 have been instructed to inform the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
The cumulative number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State has reached 90,551 .
It includes 961 people vaccinated yesterday and 31,813 health care workers.
Meanwhile, Thoubal Deputy Commissioner N Bandana has declared the homestead of one Mayengbam Jeny Chanu and its vicinity at Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai as containment zone after one resident of the locality has been tested positive for COVID-19 .
