Covid toll rises to 2063 with 4 more

Even as the positivity rate (TPR) has further declined to 10 per cent, the Covid-19 death toll has risen to 2063 as four individuals succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours.
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the victims belonged to Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur and Thoubal.
All of them had co-morbidities and none of them was vaccinated.
In the meantime, 201 samples were confirmed positive out of 2008 samples tested during the last 24 hours which puts the daily positivity rate at 10 per cent.
The positive cases include 196 civilians and five CAPF personnel.
The civilians are residents of Imphal East (58), Imphal West (75), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (8), Kangpokpi (2), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (4), Ukhrul (3), Noney (1), Senapati (5), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (9) .
Tengnoupal district logged the highest daily positivity rate at 22.2 per cent followed by Noney 16.7 per cent, Imphal East 15.1 per cent and Bishnupur 13.7 per cent.
Following recovery, 204 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (157), RIMS (9), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (33), according to a bulletin issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases in the State has grown to 1,34,862 (general population 1,29,884 and Central security personnel 4,978) .
This figure includes 3786 active cases (general population 3655 and Central security personnel 131) and 1,29,013 recovered cases (general population 1,24,173 and Central security personnel 4,840) .
The recovery rate stands at 95.66 per cent.
A total of 246 D-type oxygen cylinders and 96 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
Currently, 71 (out of 300) Covid beds of JNIMS and another 52 (out of 190) of RIMS are vacant.
The cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 25,68,152 (first dose 14,57,095, second dose 10,72,024 and precautionary dose 39,033) .
The cumulative figure includes 12,890 doses jabbed yesterday.
Till Saturday, 45.79 per cent of the State's total eligible population has been given both the first and second dose of Covid vaccine while 59.42 per cent has received the first dose.
