With 5, State sees highest number of deaths on single day, toll now stands at 34

The COVID-19 death toll in the State has reached 34 as five persons died of the disease in the last 24 hours.
This is the highest number of deaths on a single day due to the virus ever since the pandemic hit Manipur too.
All of them had comorbid conditions, said sources.
The victims include one 35-year-old man from Bishnupur district and three men from Imphal East-a 39-year-old, a 60 year-old and a 63-year-old.The fifth victim was a 61-year-old man from Thoubal district.
While the death of the three victims was confirmed by an early report from the Government COVID-19 Common Control Room, the other two deaths (of the 39-year-old man and 60-year-old man from Imphal East) were reported by sources.
The 35-year-old man from Bishnupur and the 60-year-old man from Imphal East died at Shija Hospital, while the man, 60, from Thoubal and 39-year-old from Imphal East died at JNIMS.
The other victim, 63, from Imphal East died at RIMS.
Meanwhile, 102 persons including 75 civilians and 27 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours raising the total number of cases to 6609, said the Government COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 75 civilians include 49 males and 26 females and all of them have no significant travel history.
They hail from Tengnoupal (17), Imphal West (14), Imphal East (11), Bishnupur (4), Thoubal (20), Churachandpur (6), Kakching (2) and Chandel (1).They are being shifted to designated COVID-19 Care Centres and all containment measures and contact tracing are in place, added the report.
On the other hand, as many as 167 persons were discharged after recovery from COVID-19 .
They tested negative for COVID-19 on RT PCR test.
They were discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres of CAPF (88), Lamboikhongnangkhong (32), UNACCO (18), RIMS (5), RD Wing (14), JNV Chandel (6) and Jiribam (4) .
According to the COVID-19 Common Control Room, the cumulative number of coronavirus positive cases has reached 6609 which include 4980 civilians and 1629 security personnel.
The total number of recovered cases is 4774 including 3739 civilians and 1035 security personnel.
The number of active cases at present is 1803 which include 1211 civilians and 592 security personnel.
The recovery rate now stands at 72.23 per cent.
Meanwhile, a late report from sources at Imphal West district administration said 28 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in the district today.
The cases include 6 each from Langol and Major Khul.
As many as 571 samples were tested for COVID-19 at JNIMS and 32 were found positive.
6 in Thoubal district also tested positive for the virus, said sources.
13 cases were also detected at Tengnoupal district.
They include 8 from Beaularam village, 4 from Maringphal and 1 from Kanemram village.
