M Nabakishore selected for Literature award

Imphal, February 02 2023: Maibam Nabakishore Singh, a noted contemporary fiction and script writers of Manipur from Hiyanglam in Kakching district, has been selected for the prestigious Manipur State Award for Literature, for the year 2022 .

In a notification.

Directorate of Language Planning and Implementation ofhcer/LPI Dr N Gopendro informed that the award is sponsored by the government of Manipur from the year 2008 to honour Manipuri writers for their contributions to Manipuri Literature.

At present, the Award includes plaque, citation, shawl and cash component of Rs 3 lakh, Gopendro added.

The government decided to present the 14th Manipur State Award for Literature to Maibam Nabakishore Singh for his book "Thamoigi Mari", a collection of short stories published in 2017 as per the recommendation of a board of eminent persons set up by the government .

Nabakishore is also a recipient of several Literary Awards including Sahitya 'Akademi Award, New Delhi (2005) .
