Imphal, October 17 2026:
The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has urged people across the hill and valley districts of Manipur to stage a clanging protest on October 23 at 7.30 pm to demand the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact, updation of National Register of Citizens and to urge the Government of India to stop its alleged "divide and rule" policy in the State among others.
Addressing the media at Dewlahland Kabo Leikai today, FoH president Sapamcha Jadumani said the situation in the State had gone from bad to worse, with people even having to demand the return of a severed head to perform the last rites.
He further stated that even children had not been spared, pointing out that several children had been killed during the ongoing crisis in Manipur, while several people had also been subjected to mutilation.
Thousands of people are still languishing in relief camps, while dozens remain missing, he said.
alleging that the Government of India has been pursuing a divisive policy in the State, he claimed that SoO groups have been engaging in violence with impunity.
He also alleged that the Congress and BJP have been focused on winning elections rather than working towards resolving the crisis in the State.
He said that Manipur needs a mass movement to restore normalcy in the State.
