The JFD Women Wing's signature campaign for updating NRC before census received support from four Members of Legislative Assembly today.
The MLAs who appended their signature on a 5-point declaration paper include Khundrakpam AC MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar, Wabagai AC MLA Dr Usham Deben Singh, Wangkhei AC MLA Keisham Meghachandra and Sugnu AC MLA Kangujam Ranjit.
Notably, the JFD Women Wing has been carrying out the signature campaign visiting residences of MLAs to ascertain and affirm their stand on the demand for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before census 2027 operations.

In a statement, the women wing of the Just and Fair Delimitation said that the four MLAs they visited today expressed their support for the public movement for NRC and appended their signatures on paper.
It said that the JFD has been demanding an update of the NRC with 1951 as the base-year to identify genuine citizens and detect illegal immigrants settling in Manipur.
There must be no census operation in Manipur before the NRC is updated.
The signature campaign will continue and its members will visit other elected Members of the Legislative Assembly in the coming days, said the women wing of the JFD .
