Manipur has better toilet and sanitation facilities and women are more safer here, says Sangeetha Sridhar

Tengnoupal, December 26 2018: Manipur is better than other States of India in terms of adequate number of toilets said Sangeetha Sridhar while adding that women are more safe in Manipur as compare to other States.

Originally hailing from Coimbatore, Sangeetha Sridhar (50) is in the State at Indo-Myanmar Border Town Moreh as part of her solo drive mission across the nation to conduct a first-hand experiential audit of toilet and Sanitation facilities, the condition of national roads and highways and the safety quotient for solo woman travellers in India, and to check whether Gandhiji's dreams of 'Clean India', 'Safe India', and 'Swacch Bharat' are in reality today.

Sangeetha has planned this drive across different cities to coincide with Gandhiji's 150th birth anniversary.

Even in some advanced State of India, due to lack of proper toilets and sanitation facilities, women face lots of inconveniences.

However, women in Manipur are very fortunate as every household have toilet facility", said Sangeetha Sridhar.

She has started her solo journey on August 12 this year and probably will culminate in March 2019.It is her 119th day of the journey in Moreh today and has covered 27,000 km so far.

So far, she has driven across 21 cities, visited 55 'Make In India' industry, passed through 18 borders across the breadth and length of India even covering extreme points from West to East of India.

Her journey has been officially approved and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, GOI, FICCI Ladies Organization, and Ambassador to UAE, Navdeep Suri.

While visiting Indo-Myanmar Border Town, Moreh, she has gone to many places in and around Moreh and check the toilet facility at Integrated Check Post.

However, the unhygienic condition and non-availability of water in ladies washroom at ICP irked Sangeetha.

Later, she headed for Imphal after meeting the members of Tamil Sangam, Moreh.

She said that she will submit her findings regarding Save India, Clean India to PM Narendra Modi at the end of her Auditing Survey Travel.
