State sends amended proposal for fuel pipeline project

As demanded by the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs, the State Government has submitted an amended proposal for the Guwahati-Imphal fuel pipeline to the Government of India.
Union, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley had asked Chief Minister N Biren to incorporate certain important aspects in the project proposal for laying the fuel pipeline from Guwahati to Imphal over a distance of around 650 Kms.
Regarding the Guwahati-Silchar-Imphal Product Pipe Line or GSIPL project in short, Arun Jaitley sent a letter to the Chief Minister on December 21, conveyed a source.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has already made a comprehensive proposal to the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs for due deliberation on the GSIPL project by the Investment Board.
Notably, the Government of India has already approved the GSIPL project in-principle and New Delhi has also agreed to bear viability gap fund for the project, said the source.
Before obtaining due approval of the Investment Board for the comprehensive proposal submitted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, certain important aspects should be incorporated in the project proposal.
As demanded by Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley, the State Government has sent a modified proposal after inserting certain points.
The modified proposal says that National oil companies would be given benefits of the project if they contribute to the project cost and it also talks about exporting fuel products to South East Asian countries under the Government of India's Act East Policy, informed the source.
