Saw mill gutted, house partially ravaged

Imphal, December 26 2018:
A large pile of timber and many other articles worth over Rs one crore have been reduced to cinders by a devastating fire at Malom Tulihal, Imphal West district yesterday afternoon.
According to information culled from the spot, the ravaging fire broke out from a saw mill located opposite to the IOC's Malom oil depot at around 3.10 pm before it engulfed a neighbouring multi-storeyed house.
A large number of timbers and logs kept at the saw mill whose total monetary value was estimated to be over Rs one crore had been reduced to cinders.
Moreover, almost a half of a neighbouring multi-storeyed house was also engulfed by the raging fire and all the articles present in the particular half were also destroyed.
Both the saw mill as well as the ravaged house belong to one Soibam Sarat s/o Manglem.
However, there is no report of human casualty.
According to information received from the Manipur Fire Services, they learnt about the fire at around 3.27 pm.
Immediately, a team of firefighters rushed to the spot in seven vehicles including fire tenders and they eventually succeeded in containing the fire at around 5.50 pm .
