Imphal, December 26 2018:
BJP Manipur State Unit spokesperson and ML A S Rajen has claimed that the State Government does not have the power to detain Kishorchandra Wangkhem under NSA and his detention is the result of the NSA Board's decision regarding his (Kishorchandra) Facebook posts.
Speaking to media persons at his office chamber at New Secretariat today, MLA Rajen claimed that the BJP-led State Government has no personal grudge or enmity towards Kishorchandra and added that Chief Minister N Biren Singh is a person who has utmost respects for journalists.
The spokesperson claimed that in the past, Kishorchandra had used offensive words using the photograph of Oinam AC MLA L Radhakishore and there was another incident when he behaved rudely against the MLA's escort under the influence of alcohol.
Kishorchandra was pardoned with just simple warnings at that time, the MLA added.
His recent vulgar and offensive insults hurled at BJP, RSS, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, was his third offence, Rajen said adding that the offensive and vulgar words used by Kishorchandra regarding the organisation of Rani Laskmibai's memorial event in Manipur as well as against the MLAs etc, are condemnable.
Asking under what influence Kishorchandra chose to speak out those offensive words, MLA Rajen questioned if someone had brainwashed him and instructed him to say what he said or whether he made the statements according to his own free will.
Rajen continued that after the coming of the BJP Government, there have been many positive changes.
Postal stamps of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot has even been produced at the National level, he said, adding that the BJP Government even organised State level observation of Irabot's birth anniversary.
He continued that Chanakyapuri Road of New Delhi has been named after Bir Tikendrajit honouring the brave Manipuri.
A ship at Visakhapatnam Vizag sea port is named after Rani Lakshmibai and is used in rescue operations, he added.
The MLA then asked what is wrong with BJP Mahila Morcha organising the Rani Lakshmibai's memorial event in honour of the brave woman who fought for the independence of the country.
There were no complaints when the event was organised by the then Congress Government, but Kishorchandra's action when the event was organised by BJP, seems to have some vested interest, he claimed.
MLA Rajen then explained that Kishorchandra' s detention under NSA must be the result of the decision of the NSA Court, which consists of a retd Chief Justice and senior Advocates, ruling that his detention is justified.
It is not within the power of the Government to detain someone under NSA anytime as it like, he claimed.
The BJP spokesperson continued that the BJP Government works tirelessly for maintaining communal harmony and for bridging the gap between the hills and the valley.
The BJP Government is not a dictatorial Government, he said appealing to all not to see BJP Government in the wrong light in connection with Kishorchandra's detention under NSA.
