Imphal, August 01 2026: An exchange of firing broke out between two groups of armed men at Gaidimjang Part 2 under Khoupum police station this evening.

Sources said that an exchange of firing broke out between two groups of militants suspected to be from NSCN(IM) and ZUF at around 6.10 pm today.

The exchange of firing went till around 6.40 pm but there was no report of any casualty on either side.

Many farmers who were returning home from agricultural fields and passengers travelling on the nearby roads were delayed for some time because of the gun fight, said the sources.

As it was already dark, security forces were unable to reach the site of the gun fight till the time of filing this report.
