Elite tourney: CYCLONE, CHAMP remain neck & neck in standings, SCCC beat RULE

CYCLONE inflicted an 8-wicket hammering on CRAU as CHAMP outplayed PTCC, and SCCC overcame RULE in Saturday's league matches of the MNCA Elite Tournament.
With the Saturday's results, CYCLONE and CHAMP remained neck and neck in the standings, boasting 19 points apiece from 11 matches.
Courtesy of a superior net run rate, CYCLONE cling on to the top spot of the point table.
CYCLONE dished out a deadly bowling spell to bundle out CRAU for a paltry 96 in 26.2 overs after the latter decided to bat first.
Abdul Kasim impressed with 4 scalps, Loktongbam Santosh Meitei pitched in with three wickets, and Nongthombam Denin, Aribam Ronald Sharma and Nongmaithem Suraj Singh each took one to lay the foundation for the team's victory.
CRAU's innings saw Lamabam Ajay Singh (17), Lamabam Jotin Singh (14) and Dennis Khangenbam (13) reach double figures.
CYCLONE wrapped up the win in 20.2 overs as Muhammed Al Bashid scored 51 before Bikash Singh (21 not out) and Kishan Laishram (19 not out) finished off the task.
In the process, CYCLONE lost one wicket each to Lamabam Ajay Singh and Dinu Sarangthem.
CHAMP, meanwhile, notched up a 4-wicket triumph over PTCC.
CHAMP restricted their opponents to 177/9 before they chased down the target in 37 overs.
In their innings, Dominic Moirangthem (39 not out) led the scoring, followed by Andy Mandingbam (29), Hijam Hemachandra Singh (24) and Abit Hijam (23) for PTCC.
For CHAMP, Md Sultan Karim and Mohd Ahsanul Kabir picked up two wickets each while Thingbaijam Nicholson Singh, Moirangthem Thomas Singh and Nitesh Sedai got one each.
In their response, CHAMP scored past PTCC in 37 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.
A lethal combination of Md Sultan Karim (53 not out) and Nitesh Sedai (56), after openers Narsingh Yadav (22) and Leikhram Johny Singh (23) got dismissed, steered CHAMP to a comfortable 4-wicket success.
For PTCC, Sohail Akram claimed 2 wickets while Sadananda Okram, Dominic Moirangthem, Gemson and Chingakham Nikhil Meetei bagged one each.
SCCC beat RULE by 5 runs .
RULE elected to bat and made 198/9 in 40 overs.
SCCC emerged victorious via DLS method after reaching 190/8 in 37 overs.
Ulenyai Khwairakpam starred in their run chase, striking 77 as Phijam Langamba Meitei contributed 31, Laishram Ronson Singh 20 and Khwairakpam Rinju Singh 15 .
Earlier, Basant, Lishan Meitei Khaidem and Khwairakpam Rinju Singh each grabbed 2 wickets for CHAMP.
For SCCC, Avinash Asmali and Thokchom Kishan Singh shared 5 wickets between them in a losing effort.
