Imphal, June 14 2025:
Saturday's fixtures in the 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy delivered a spectacle of cricketing drama, featuring dominant performances, nerve-wracking finishes, and individual brilliance across four enthralling encounters.
REYS outclassed WYC with ease, CYCLONE survived a scare against KCC, PTCC demolished KSDO in a one-sided rout, and TRAU pulled off a last-ball thriller against MPSC, ensuring a day packed with unforgettable moments.
In a match that showcased the brilliance of all-rounder Ringku Kangujam, REYS dismantled WYC with a clinical 6-wicket win in their encounter at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-III Cherapur, Thoubal.
WYC's decision to bat first backfired spectacularly as they collapsed to 86 all out in 18.3 overs, with Kangujam (3/11) and Kiran Laishram (2/10) running riot.
The chase was a mere formality as Kangujam blazed his way to an unbeaten 39 off just 21 balls, sealing victory in just 12.2 overs.
His explosive knock, studded with 4 fours and 3 sixes, left the opposition shell-shocked.
The Mojjing Public Ground witnessed a tense encounter as CYCLONE overcame KCC by 5 wickets.
KCC, led by captain Nongmaithem Dijaraj Singh's composed 52 (52 balls), posted a respectable 133/4, with Nameirakpam Arbin Singh contributing a brisk 41 (34).However, CYCLONE's disciplined bowling, particularly Loktongbam Santosh Meitei's economical 2/22, ensured the target remained within reach.
CYCLONE's chase stuttered early, but Muhammed Al Bashid (37) and Kishan Laishram (36) steadied the innings with crucial contributions.
The game tilted decisively in CYCLONE'S favour when Nongthombam Denin unleashed a blistering unbeaten 21 off 12 balls, including two sixes, to seal the win with 11 balls to spare.
The most lopsided contest of the day saw PTCC annihilate KSDO by 8 wickets in a match that lasted just 15.3 overs.
KSDO's batting lineup crumbled against Gemson Mutum's fiery spell of 5/14, skittling the opposition for a paltry 39 .
The total was never going to challenge PTCC, and captain Andy Mandingbam made sure of that, smashing an unbeaten 28 off just 11 balls (3 fours, 1 six) to wrap up the chase in a mere four overs.
In the most nail-biting encounter of the day, TRAU chased down 135 with just one ball to spare, defeating MPSC by 5 wickets.
In a game that ebbed and flowed dramatically, MPSC's 134/6 looked competitive thanks to Sagolsem Sunil Singh's masterful 61 (53 balls, 9 fours, 1 six) .
However, TRAU's response turned into a rollercoaster ride.
The chase was built around Priyojit Kangabam's explosive 48 (34 balls) and Pukhrambam Pratullomani Singh s rapid 47 (33 balls), but when both fell in quick succession, the match hung in balance.
The final over drama saw Mutum Swabhiman (8*) hold his nerve, hitting the winning runs off the penultimate delivery to spark wild celebrations.
