Imphal, March 07 2025: A spirited performance by forward S Johny Kom propelled TRAU FC to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over SAT Tirur in their I-League 2 2024-25 home fixture at Khuman Lampak Stadium on Friday.

The win, witnessed by an enthusiastic home crowd, bolstered TRAU's campaign in the league standings, showcasing their attacking flair and defensive resilience in a match brimming with momentum shifts.

Johny Kom, the talismanic striker, ignited the home side's dominance early, breaking the deadlock in the 25th minute.

Capitalising on SAT Tirur's defensive lapse, Johny dribbled past his marker to calmly put the ball past the goalkeeper, sending the home supporters into raptures.

The forward doubled TRAU's lead just nine minutes later, showcasing composure under pressure as he latched onto a through-ball, rounded the onrushing keeper, and slotted into an empty net to make it 2-0 .

SAT Tirur, visibly rattled by the first-half deficit, emerged reinvigorated after the break.

The visitors intensified their press.

Despite SAT's relentless attacks, TRAU's backline stood firm, clearing dangerous crosses and blocking shots in a display of organised defiance.
