Kakching gears up for ASMITA City League featuring women's badminton & wushu

As part of the Khelo India scheme, the ASMITA City League - a premier women's sports competition in badminton and wushu - will take place in Kakching district over two days.
Organised by the District Youth Affairs and Sports Office (DYASO), Kakching, the event is scheduled for March 22 and 23, 2025, at the DYA-SO Sports Complex, Indoor Hall, Kakching.
The Badminton City League will feature competitions for female players in the under-11, under-13, and under-17 categories, while the Wushu City League will accommodate participants in the under-9, under-14, and under-19 age groups.
This sporting event is being organised in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, and the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS), Manipur.
ASMITA, which stands for Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action, is a dedicated women's sports league under the Khelo India initiative.
The league aims to foster greater sports participation and inclusivity among women.
Khelo India, a national programme for the development of sports, aims to improve India's sports culture at the grassroots level through organised talent identification, structured competitions, and infrastructure development.
The initiative aspires to position India as a leading sporting nation.
