4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy : Chingakham Ranjan, Ajay Mahto guide PCC to second straight victory; KCC crush SHADOW by 133 runs

Imphal, December 21 2023: Chingakham Ranjan and Ajay Mahto produced finest performances to help PCC-Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi thrash TCMDC by 87 runs for the second Group B victory in the ongoing 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy.

PCC won the toss and opted to bat first here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.

They amassed a commanding total of 181 runs for 4 wickets and bowled out TCMDC for 94 runs in 18.5 overs to earn the second victory after beating THAU in the previous match.

Despite losing opener Charoibam Tyson for the 2-ball duck, Longjam Gibson 25, Thokchom Anand and Takhelmayum Bikash 38 carried forward the Mayaikoibi team before Chingakham Ranjan scored a 30-ball 50 and remained not out along with Huidrom Dhanashyam who scored 25 off 12 balls.

Suraj Kharibam of TCMDC returned with the best figures of 2/29 in 4 overs in this innings as H Babulu and Thongam Tuljit claimed a wicket apiece.

In reply, TCMDC had a disastrous start as Ch Ranjan removed Ashokumar for the first wicket before Ajay Mahto Kumar swept four wickets in quick succession to reduce them to 35/5 in 6.1 overs.

Mairembam Lucky caused further damage to TCMDC by removing Kirankumar Saikia to make it 38/6 before Ajay Mahto had his fifer by bowling out Moirangthem Sunanda for 14 runs in the 9th over.

Suraj Kharibam who came out at 8 anchored with an unbeaten 43 off 35 balls in this innings which saw L Chingkheihunba, Thokchom Anand and Pravin Kumar of PCC also picking up a wicket apiece.

Ajay Mahto was the pick of the PCC bowlers as he finished with the best figures of 5/12 in 4 overs.

In another Group B tie staged at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College Ground, KCC Kongba opened their campaign with a huge 133 run victory over SHADOW-Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai.

KCC opted to bat first and racked up a modest total of 169 runs for 6 wickets thanks to significant contributions from Nongmaithem Dijiraj 34, Rohen Singh 22, Thokchom Momocha 22 and Nameirakpam Arbin 20 .

KCC then bowled out SHADOW for just 36 runs within 14.3 overs on the back of Keisham Basantakumar 3/10 in 3 overs and Singthoi Singh Nandeibam 3/3 in 1.3 overs to seal the huge victory.

In the KCC innings, RK Nishikanta (3/33) and Sagatpam Lanchenba (2/24) of SHADOW shared five wickets.

KCC's Y Sheiteendra and Tayenjam Tomba also finished with a wicket apiece to set up the comfortable win.

In a Group A fixture staged at Moijing Public Ground, IBSA-Yumnam Leikai who suffered their first game loss to RCA, pulled off a 19-run victory over NAPSA-Kha Imphal.

IBSA added 112 runs for 8 wickets after electing to bat first and skittled out NAPSA for just 93 runs in 19.4 overs courtesy of MK Tamim (3/18 in 3.4 overs) and Boney Potsangbam (3/11 in 4 voers) for the victory.

For IBSA, Khundrakpam Lemba topscored with 29 runs as Laishram Electronic scored highest 27 for NAPSA in the chase.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, UCC-Uripok Khaidem Leikai kicked off their Group (C) campaign with a huge 94 run victory over YWC-Patsoi thanks to L Bishorjit's all round performance.

Leishangthem Bishorjit 64 off 54 and Tamarjit 56 off 42 balls gave UCC a memorable start after choosing to bat first before Thangjam Anson blazed off 7 fours and 4 sixes off 19 balls to remain unbeaten on 57 along with Haobam Ajitkumar 2 not out to guide UCC to a massive total of 221/2 .

Konsam Gulsan (3/20) and Leishangthem Bishorjit (2/28) then wreaked havoc and set up the YWC-Patsoi collapse in 18.5 overs with the scoreboard reading 127/9.Devachandra of YWC-P did not bat.

L Bishorjit of UCC who hit a half century and picked two wickets was adjudged man of the match.

Meanwhile, KSDO-Kyamgei cruised to their second Group D victory by registering a 36 run victory over KASC at Lairenjam Public Ground.

Put in to bat first, KSDO rode on Md Arif's quickfire 52 off 36 balls and Tarique Aziz's 19-ball 29 to pile up 151 runs despite Md Javed Aktar's four wicket haul (4/28) and restricted KASC to 115/8 courtesy.

Khushru Pravesh (2/7 in 4 overs) and Md Riyajuddin (2/5 in 2 overs) led the frugal bowling effort of KSDO while Lakimbur and Sangomshumpham Shah Nawaz clinched a wicket apiece to limit KASC to 115 runs in the chase.

Md Javed Aktar 27, Md Shahir Khan 20 and Md Ali Karim were the main run getters for KASC.
