Imphal, January 12 2024: Gelson Thoudam produced an all-round performance to help MPSC crush YWC-Patsoi for the sixth Group C win on the trot in the 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College Ground.

YWC-P won the toss and elected to bat first.

They managed 112 runs for 8 wickets in their innings as MPSC bowlers were good at maintaining economy.

Gelson Thoudam then clobbered 12 fours and 6 sixes to score an unbeaten 76 to steer MPSC to winning 114 in 12.1 overs at the cost of only Sagolshem Sunil (30) .

MPSC bowlers impressed early forcing YWC-P to collect only 19 runs for two wickets in the first powerplay as Indraban Koijam removed Khedabarth Khundrakpam on 5 in the 5th over and Oinam Rojit removed Laikhuram Jagat on 12 .

Sarangthem Shangker then bowled out Ashiskumar on 4 for the third wicket in the 8th over before Gelson Thoudam trapped M Thoungamba lbw on 8 for the fourth wicket to reduce YWC-P to 44/4 in 12.1 overs.

The fifth wicket came up in the form of Piojit who got run out on 18 in the 15th over and Gelson completed his two wicket haul (2/33 in 4 overs) by removing Shitaljit Wangkhem on 13 in the 17th over.

Johnson Lai toiled hard to keep the scoreboard ticking but was bowled out by Maibam Bijoykumar on the team's highest 39 off 24 balls for the 7th wicket in the fourth delivery of the last over before the incoming Devachandra fell the very next delivery to ensure Bijoykumar returned with the best bowling figures of 2/17 in 4 overs.

The chase was a smooth walk as Sunil and Gelson combined well to forge a 106 run partnership before Sarangthem Shangker came to assist Gelson with an unbeaten 4 and finished off the chase.

Gelson was deservedly named man of the match.

The result helped MPSC go top of the table and qualify for the quarter finals with a match left to spare.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, PCC capped their Group B campaign with a huge 92 run victory over SHADOW-Thangmeiband for the fifth win.

The result also helped PCC dislodge TCMDC from pole position to second and confirm their place in the quarter finals with a match left to spare.

YWC-L, currently third in the table with 5 wins from 6 matches, also remain in the contention for the two quarter final berths from the same table.

PCC, after electing to bat first, rode on heroics outings from Takhelmayum Vikash 82 not out (off 43 balls, 10 fours and 3 sixes), Huidrom Dhanashyam 29 (off 16 balls, 2 sixes and 2 fours) and Chingakham Ranjan 23 to pile up a massive total of 190 runs for 5 wickets.

The innings saw RK Nishikanta claiming two wickets as Rahul Kumar and Kh Devis picked a wicket apiece.

In the chase, SHADOW never looked in contention as Mb Jobanta Sharma (3/16), L Chingheihunba (2/4) and Chingakham Ranjan (2/23) ran through their batting line up and bowled them out for 92 runs in 15.5 overs.

Tellen Thangjam was the only notable batter for SHADOW today with an unbeaten 34 to his name.

Takhelmayum Vikash who starred with the bat was adjudged man of the match.

At Lairenjam Public Ground, SSU-Singjamei ended their Group A campaign with a 4 wicket thrashing of NAPSA for the fourth win.

NAPSA posted 108/9 after electing to bat first on the back of Richard Kshetrimayum 37 and Bipin Ningthoujam 24 but SSU took 18.1 overs to reach 110 as Shamurailatpam Deepankar Sharma 44 and Khomdram Rahuldev 23 not out played key roles.

Sougrakpam Douglas (3/24) and Ningombam Sanjoy (2/10) were the key SSU bowlers while Albert Sorokhaibam of NAPSA finished with the best figures of 4/16 in 4 overs.
