Governor extends ₹1 lakh to N Roshibina

Arjuna awardee Naorem Roshibina Devi (Wushu) along with her coach and parents met Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening.
The Governor congratulated N Roshibina on her achievements and the honour she received and wished her a grand success in her future career, bringing more laurels for the state and the nation as a whole.
She also thanked her coach and parents for their support to Roshibina and announced to extend a sum of Rs 1 lakh to her.
A delegation of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Manipur led by its general secretary L Sotinkumar Singh along with five other members also called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, here, on Friday and apprised her of the prevailing situation along the national highways in the state.
The delegation informed the Governor about the insecure environment along the NHs that the transporters, drivers, helpers and the people have been facing for the last many years and especially during the present unrest, the situation has worsened.
They pointed out that extortion, looting, abduction and killings by miscreants and UGs are common occurrences and prices of commodities have sky rocketed due to these factors.
Advocating the need for establishment of a dedicated force, they stated that Highway Protection Force is the only hope for safeguarding the NHs and therefore, steps to implement it should be initiated at the earliest.
The team also submitted a representation to the Governor and requested her to inform the Prime Minister and Union home minister in this regard.
The Governor after giving a patient hearing to their demands stated that this is a genuine problem and state and central governments have been trying to restore peace and normalcy so that people from all walks of life can live in a peaceful environment.
The Governor assured the delegation that she will apprise the issue to the Prime Minister and the Union home minister and asked them to meet with the security advisor.
Meanwhile, additional chief secretary M H Khan along with two officers called on Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday and apprised her of the present status of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in the state and discussed about the activities taken up under the ADCs.
The Governor informed the officers that she will visit the hill districts in the month of February.
