ZEOs suspended

Imphal, January 12 2024: The Government of Manipur has suspended Jangkhohao Haokip, ZEO, Chura-chandpur; Lhingtinneng, ZEO, Kangpokpi and L Taithul, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Samulamian Block of ZEO, Churachandpur.

An order to this effect was issued by Purujit Lairikyengbam, Under Secretary, Education (S) today.

The order also prohibited the two ZEOs of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur district and the DI of Schools from leaving their headquarters at Imphal (Directorate of Education) without obtaining permission from the Government.

At this juncture, the Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills has slammed the suspension of the Kangpokpi ZEO along with the two other officials.

Seeking a clarification on the suspension of ZEO Kangpokpi, KSO Sadar Hills also expressed solidarity with the suspended officials and appealed to revoke the suspension within 48 hours.

It further claimed that the suspension stems from the matter related of CBSE affiliation of 25 schools.

KSO Sadar Hills also expressed belief in providing individuals with a fair chance to present their side of the story and a thorough investigation before reaching the end result.

The student body went on to appeal for a swift and impartial investigation into the allegation against Lhingtinnneg Singsit while earnestly appealing for the suspension to be revoked within 48 hours.

Further, KSO Sadar Hills declared that the official appointed to replace ZEO Kangpokpi, namely, Joshi Lamkhohat Haokip, DI in-charge Saitu, will not be allowed to occupy the office.

While acknowledging the need for disciplinary measures when warranted, the student body urged the Government of Manipur to thoroughly investigate the allegations against the suspended ZEO Kangpokpi and ensure a fair and unbiased inquiry.
