Scribes bid tearful adieu to Senior Sub-Editor of TSE S Surjeswar

With heartfelt condolences, the staff of The Sangai Express held a moment of silence in memory of their longtime colleague and Senior Sub Editor Sanoujam Surjeswar.
Surjeswar (57) breathed his last on January 11 (Thursday) at his residence at Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai.
He is survived by his wife Sanoujam (Ongbi) Joshibala and two children - one daughter and a son.
Before joining The Sangai Express, he worked at Toknga and Hueiyen Lanpao and served as a general secretary of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) during the 2011-2013 terms.
He last attended the office on January 9 .

A condolence meeting was also held in memory of Surjeswar at Manipur Press Club today.
Ahead of the meeting, family members of the journalist and his colleagues belonging to different media houses paid their obeisance and offered floral tributes to the photo of Surjeswar.
The meeting was presided by Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) president Khogendra Khomdram and AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam.
At the meeting, Khogendra remembered how he met Surjeswar and the loyalty he had shown to his job during his time at The Sangai Express while Bijoy Kakchingtabam burst into tears remembering his friend.
Saying that Surjeswar was a soft spoken and kind hearted person, Khogendra continued that his demise has left an irreparable void to the media industry in Manipur and The Sangai Express in particular.
Bijoy, on the other hand, said that Surjeswar was a man of integrity who always thought positively while praying for the departed soul to rest in peace.
The meeting ended after observing silence for two minutes in honour of Surjeswar AMWJU also mourned the demise of the senior journalist and shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family.
