AMWJU, EGM condole demise of ex-GS

All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) condoled the untimely demise of its former general secretary (2011-13) and senior sub-editor of Sangai Express Sanoujam Surjeswar.
In a release, AMWJU informed that a condolence meeting was convened at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday during which floral tributes were paid to the photo of Surjeswar.
The condolence meeting was presided over jointly by AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) president Khogendra Khomdram.
Bijoy recalled late Surjeswar as a journalist-with integrity and a person who believed in positive thinking.
His contributions during his tenure as general secretary will be treasured forever, he said.
In his brief address, Khogendra described the untimely demise of Surjeswar as a huge loss for media fraternity in general and Sangai Express in particular.
A two-minute silence was also observed in honour of the departed soul and prayed for peaceful rest in the heavenly abode.
Surjeswar (57) succumbed to an illness on Thursday at his Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai residence.
He started his journalistic career as a reporter at Toknga and Hueiyen Lanpao and later joined Sangai Express as a sub-editor.
