Educational institutes observe National Youth Day

Manipur University Library and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Cell observed National Youth Day 2024 cum Swami Vivekananda's Message to the Youth of India- Significance for Viksit Bharat @ 2047 under the theme 'It's all in the mind' at Manipur University Library conference hall on Friday.
The programme was attended by MU vice chancellor professor N Lokendra Singh as chief guest, Department of Economics retired professor E Bijoykumar Singh as invited speaker and librarian in-charge professor Ch Ibohal Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof N Lokendra opined that in view of the changing geo-political scenario, the youth need to get acquainted with history of the land, stay fit and healthy and also understand and shoulder their responsibilities.
He also exhorted the students to take advantage of the NEP 2020 and at least learn one foreign language as it may help them in their future career.
MU NSS Cell and Khelo Bharat Manipur also organised an interactive session as part of observance of National Youth Day, marking the 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at MU Department of Physical Education and Sports Science on Friday.
During the programme, NSS Cell coordinator Dr M Nodiyachand Singh and as sociate professor Dr L Santosh interacted with around 100 students.
On the other hand, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur commemorated National Youth Day cum Swami Vivekananda Jayanti in 10 districts encompassing 30 educational institutions on Friday, a release by ABVP state office secretary Laishram Rajesh Singh said.
ABVP Manipur conveyed that in a series programmes held at colleges, schools, institutes and universities, it paid tribute to the profound teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
The events showcased a confluence of intellectual discourse, cultural perfor mances and activities aimed at fostering national pride and youth empowerment.
The diverse campuses across the 10 districts reverberated with discussions on Swami Vivekananda s philosophy, emphasising the relevance of his thoughts in shaping the character and aspirations of the youth and his vision for a dynamic and progressive India, it added.
ABVP Manipur further mentioned that in addition to intellectual discussions, the events included various activities such as Plastic Free Campaign, Clean Campus Green Campus initiative, speeches on the role of agriculture students for a Viksit Bharat, career guidance sessions, discussions on building a self-reliant Bharat and addressing the issue of youth free from drug abuse.

Thoubal College and ABVP Thoubal Unit observed National Youth Day by organising a discussion on the theme 'Self Reliant Bharat and Role of Youth' at College's multipurpose hall on Friday.
The programme was attended by Manipur University registrar professor W Chandbabu, Thoubal SP Rakesh Balwal, College principal professor M Bina Devi, ABVP Thoubal secretary Tina Devi and ABVP Manipur treasurer Deepak Ningombam as presidium members.
The observance was marked by offering of floral tributes to the photo of Swami Vivekananda and 'Bharat Mata' with the speakers reminding the youth about the profound teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
