Honey processing, packaging prog soon: Mission Director

A seven-day state level basic training programme on beekeeping organised by Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (MBHM), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, commenced from Friday at the Khonghampat farm house of Horticulture and Soil Conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, MBHM and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) mission director Md Zakir Hussain Khan informed that steps are being taken up for a specific process -ing and packaging programme of honey produced in the state.
He elaborated on the need to design a unique bottle to attract customers while confiding that MIDH has finished preparing a detailed project report for specific honey processing and packaging programme.
Once the project is approved, the programme will be implemented as soon as possible for the benefit of farmers, he added.
The inaugural function was also attended by Horticulture and Soil Conservation director Honey Chara, joint director N Madhurja, and Imphal West up-adhyaksha L Boby, along with farmers from Ukhrul, Chandel, Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
