Imphal, January 12 2024:
Apart from supporting the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' to be flagged off on January 14, nine political parties have declared that they will take part in the Rahul Gandhi-led Yatra covering different states of the country before culminating at Mumbai in Maharashtra.
JDU Manipur spokesperson Nimaichand Luwang told media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday that the 'Yatra' led by the Congress leader is being organised for spreading peace and delivering justice to the people of the country.
As the ongoing violence, lawlessness, administrative failure and ethnic tension in Manipur is well known across the country, it is rather fortunate for the people of the state that the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' is being flagged off from the state amid such unpredictable time, Nimaichand said.
Condemning those trying to disrupt the flag-off function of the Yatra from the state, he expressed that the foot march will help in bringing back peace in the state apart from showcasing how people of the state are suffering.
BJP's selfishness and devilish intentions have laid bare as could be comprehended from the party's attempt to disrupt the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', he said.
Declaring support to the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', Nimaichand Luwang said that like-minded political parties will take part in the Yatra as it will not be political rally but for bringing peace and justice.
Terming as unfortunate the Kumbi incident in Bishnupur district wherein three firewood collectors were found brutally killed and one untraceable till date, he contended that the government should be held accountable for such unfortunate incidents.
Nimaichand also observed that the people are impressed with efforts, if any, made by the government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur and it is questionable as to why the government is unable to stop these killings.
Even the bodies of the firewood collectors were brought back by the people without any help from the government forces, he claimed.
All Political Parties convener Ksh Shanta also told media persons that like-minded political parties will support and take part in the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' to be flagged off from a private plot at Khongjom in Thoubal district on January 14.He said called as unfortunate alleged attempt to derail the Yatra by the BJP government in the state.
The press conference was also attended by JDU Manipur vice president Dr Kh Loken, CPI former secretary L Sotinkumar, NCP Manipur president S Iboyaima, Shiv Sena state leader Toijam Debanand, AAP's Hijam Noren, CPI state member Th Suresh, among many others.
