Imphal, September 14 2025:
The Prime Minister deliberately ignoring the Manipur conflict during his address yesterday was an insult to the people, said K Meghachandra, president Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
He said this while distributing 7th Taorem Kulachandra Memorial Merit Award 2025 at Khumbong Community hall today.
While people expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi to present a road-map to resolve the conflict, he didn't speak a word of the conflict.
This clearly showed that the BJP and the Government had allowed the violent conflict to happen and continue, Meghachandra said.
By not speaking a word of the conflict in strife-tom Manipur, the Prime Minister insulted the people.
By not presenting a road-map to bring peace, the Prime Minister betrayed the people of their trust and belief in him and the Government, he said.
While bringing peace would take time, he should have at least spoken about the conflict, and presented a proper road-map for bringing the conflict to an end, Meghachandra asserted.
During his visit, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to invite all the MLAs to convene a meeting that would deliberate the crises facing Manipur.
However, he chose not to invite the MLAs to such a meeting, the MPCC president said.
To the people who were eagerly waiting for him to speak about steps to end the conflict and bring peace, he spoke of grants and development projects and insulted them, Meghachandra said.
The visit was namesake.
The highways are still closed to people and there is no free movement.
The PM's visit has had no impact, he added.
Former MP Thokchom Meinya, SS Career Solution director Silomi Sanjenbam, MPYCC president Wahengbam Anand attended the event.
Many meritorious students were feted with the Taorem Kulachandra Memorial Merit Award.
The award is sponsored by Angel Hospital Managing Director Dr Yaikhomba Taorem.
