People's Museum Kakching celebrates birth anniversary of founder director

Kakching, December 13 2023: The 79th birth anniversary celebration of Mayanglambam Gourachandra, founder secretary and director of People's Museum, Kakching was held today at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre, Kakching.

The birth anniversary celebration of Mayanglambam Gourachandra who was a pioneer in establishing a private museum in Manipur was organized by the People's Museum Kakching Celebration Committee.

The event was graced by Art and Culture Commissioner, M Joy, IAS; former MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, Y Surchandra; Kakching Municipal Council caretaker chairperson N Sanjitkumar; State Museum Imphal curator M Minakshi; 2nd MR Commanding Officer, Victoria Yengkhom former Head of Department of Clinical Psychology, RIMS, Professor M Akshaykumar as the presidium members.

The event commenced with paying of floral tributes to the photo of the departed founder followed by the observance of two-minute silence praying that the departed soul may rest in peace at the Heavenly abode.

The dignitaries while speaking at the occasion recalled and lauded the significant contributions made by Mayanglambam Gourachandra in the field of art and culture in Manipur.

The attendees also resolved to make collective efforts to actualise the vision of the eminent founder.
