8th Ayurveda Day observed

As observed across the country, National Ayush Mission Manipur, Directorate of Ayush , Lamphelpat today celebrated the 8th Ayurveda Day at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal, North AOC under the theme, "Ayurveda for One Health" .
It was attended by Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh; Commissioner cum Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Pradeep Kumar Jha; Ayush Manipur, Director, Dr Akoijam Lokendro Singh; and Dr S Biswhwanath Sharma, Member Secretary, E.C.NAM/State Ayush Officer, Directorate of AYUSH, Lamphelpat, as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sapam Ranjan said, "Value and importance of the traditional method of medicine has been increasing during these days.
Ayurvedic form of treatment has also been gaining momentum.
It has become an alternative method of treatment which we need to promote with enthusiasm" .
The Minister asserted that the observance of Ayurveda Day signifies the importance of Ayurveda for its value practice to cure human illness.
"Ayurveda therapy includes herbal medicines, special diets, meditation, yoga, etc", he added.
The Minister continued that as Manipur is rich with medicinal plants, the Department of AYUSH is emphasizing to promote plants of medicinal values found in the State.
He also appealed to all concerned officials of the Department to work together to promote the AYUSH sector.
Pradeep Kumar Jha shared that Ayurveda is one of the oldest forms of medicines and the word AYUSH is a combination of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy.
Stressing on the need to mainstream the system, he mentioned that the Government of India has opened a separate Department of AYUSH recognizing its value and importance.
As part of the event, tribute was offered to Lord Dhanvantari who is considered as the doctor of Gods followed by a technical session.
