The 86th birth anniversary of RK Maipaksana was observed today along with presentation of RK Maipaksana Memorial Fellowship in Journalism, 2010 to columnist of Huiyein Lanpao Seram Niken.
Organised under the aegis of RK Maipaksana Memorial Trust, the observance function was held at DM College of Arts with retired IAS officer and Sahitya Akademi awardee Elangbam Sonamani Singh as chief guest and veteran journalist Naorem Birendrakumar as president.
Speaking at the occasion, Sonamani said that RK Maipaksana was his childhood friend and he (Maipaksana) grew up as a man with burning zeal for journalism and other social works.
Being a man devoted to his work wholeheartedly, RK Maipaksana was also respected by everyone, he added.
In his presidential address, Birendrakumar observed that the contribution made by RK Maipaksana to the society during the course of his short life span was amazing.
He was a good teacher and he taught his juniors by setting himself as an example, he said.
Chief editor of Kangleipakki Meira Wangkhemcha Shyamjai and Sahitya Akademi awardee Khumanthem Prakash Singh were among the resource persons who spoke on the life and work of RK Maipaksana at the occasion.
Apart from presentation of RK Maipaksana Memorial Fellowship for this year to Seram Niken, who is a columnist of Huiyein Lanpao, 2nd edition of Nikhil Hindu Manipuri Mahasabha, a book and a souvenir on RK Maipaksana were also released to mark his birth anniversary.
