Imphal, October 11 2010:
Reiterating its demand for equality and justice to people with disabilities (PWDs) in the State, All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has alleged that the rights of PWDs have been deprived and constricted by the authorities of the six ADCs in the recent recruitment of primary teachers.
In a statement, ATDUM president Momo Tantanga pointed out that out of the total reserved posts of 98 for PWDs, appointment have been given to only 63 PWDs and the remaining reserved posts have been left vacant.
There are in all 194 PWDs who have cleared the written test and it is not understandable why the authorities have not fill up the vacant posts, Momo said, while alleging that the remaining reserved posts meant for PWDs have been sold out to abled persons.
Regarding the steps taken up for verification of the individuals who got appointed, Momo clarified the some of the candidates have been appointed without the required disability certificates, even if they are PWDs and it is to point out this wrong procedure that the Union has taken up the steps to verify the selected candidates.
