Imphal, May 30 2025:
The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has come out strongly against the FIR lodged against its leaders by Kuki CSOs at Churachandpur police station on May 23.The complaint was filed against president Sapamcha Jadumani; vice president, Dr K Heera Kabui; general secretary Y Shyam Khuman; publicity & media cell Robert Kom and Haomee Youth Wing general secretary Kh Johnson for allegedly making provocative statements inciting communal feelings and for the exclusion of Kuki groups in the Indigenous Pillar set to be erected at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao.
During a press conference held at FoH office, Kabo Leikai, Dewlahland, Sapamcha Jadumani maintained that "refugees should not be aggrieved over being labelled as refugees" while adding that FoH has not made any statement without the necessary documentation.
As proof of their statement, the FoH president said that Kukis have received "Kuki Relief Fund" or "Refugees Fund" under Memo P.3/9/66 of the Finance Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and payment was made to the Kukis by the State Government of Manipur vide Memo 01/R/RFL with the first payment made on 22.04.1957 until 1973 .
Only those "stateless" Kukis who failed to get the Refugees Fund and entered the State illegally harbour the demand for a Separate Administration and separate land within Manipur, alleged Sapamcha Jadumani.
Indigenous people of Manipur did not get any payment through the Refugees Fund.
It would be a wise step for indigenous communities who have settled in Manipur since the 17th century to distance themselves from Kukis who seek to break the territorial integrity of the State, maintained the FoH president.
He accused individuals allegedly from Myanmar who had illegally entered Manipur such as KNO president PS Haokip and ZRA president Thanglianpau Guite (former MP of Myanmar Government elected from Tonzang Constituency) of distorting history, manipulating and fabricating narratives to destroy the integrity of Manipur.
Referring to the complaint submitted to the OC of Churachandpur police station, Sapamcha Jadumani added that Kukis should not interfere in the erection of the Indigenous Pillar as the monolith will list only the indigenous communities of the State who follow the "Yek Salai" tradition.
Urging the officers at Churachandpur PS to tackle the complaint without any bias he added that the Manipur Home Department had furnished information/documents related to Kuki refugees in 2020 and 2021 .
