'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking' observed across State

As observed across the globe, the 'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking' was observed across the State today.
JIRIBAM
The District Administration and the District Police, Jiribam jointly observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug trafficking today at the District HQ, Jiribam marked by organizing a Walkathon.
The Walkathon began at 9.30 am from Irawat Chowk led by Superintendent of Police, Jiribam Sheikh Mohd Zaib Zakir from Irawat Chowk, and culminated at Echel Club Ground, Dibong.
The participants, including personnel from District Police Jiribam and 87 BN CRPF, Teachers and students from Kasturba Girls High School, District Level Officers and officials, marched through the streets, carrying placards and banners with anti-drug slogans.
The event was organized emphasizing the importance of community participation in preventing drug abuse and promoting a healthy society.
The Walkathon served as a platform for people to come together and pledge their support for a drug- free society.
BISHNUPUR
District Social Welfare Office, Bishnupur, in collaboration with the District Administration, Bishnupur, organized a District Level Spot Painting Competition today at Kyamba Ningsing Sanglen as part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign) .
The event saw enthusiastic participation from more than 350 students across two categories - Classes VI to IX and Classes X to XII.
The aim of the competition was to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society through the creative expression of young minds.
Winners from both categories were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates by Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, at Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The Deputy Commissioner lauded the students for their vibrant participation and creative contributions.
Such co-curricular activities are crucial for shaping young minds and channelling their energy in a positive direction, she remarked, encouraging students to continue engaging in similar events in the future.
District Social Welfare Officer, Nikita Thangjam, also addressed the participants and expressed her appreciation for their efforts.
She urged the students to remain active in initiatives that raise social awareness and contribute to a better, drug-free future.
KAKCHING
As part of the observance of the "UN International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking", a rally was held today at Sora under the theme "Evidence is clear, Invest in prevention, Break the chain" .
The event was organised by Kakching District Police in collaboration with Anjuman Nasrul Islam (Ulama-e-Association) and All Sora Club's Coordinating Committee (ASCCOC) .
The rally was aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and called for a collective effort in promoting a Drug Free India, Drug Free Manipur and a Drug Free Kakching district.
Participants began their march from Sora bazar passing through Sora Maning Leikai, Sora Mamang Nurani Masjid road to Nongsha Bazar and Pukhri Achouba before culminating at the starting point carrying messages promoting a drug-free society.
