Bpr/CCpur/Kjm/Spi/Tml/Tbl/Ukl, January 25 2024: The 14th National Voters' Day (NVD) was observed today widely across the State under the theme, 'Nothing like voting; I vote for sure' .

Since 2011, National Voters' Day has been celebrated annually on January 25 to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI) which was founded on January 25, 1950 .

Bishnupur
The District Election Officer (DEO)/DC, Bishnupur district and Electoral Registration Officer 26-Bishnupur AC today observed the 14th National Voters' Day at the Conference Hall of DC Office Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.

Speaking at the occasion, Bishnupur DEO/DC, Lourembam Bikram said that the National Voters' Day is a celebration to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment of new voters.

Highlighting the importance of Universal Adult Franchise in a democracy, he encouraged all the voters, especially the first time voters to fully exercise their voting rights by casting their valuable vote.

The DC further said that to carry out SVEEP activities like voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy at colleges and schools, twelve Campus Ambassadors have been nominated for the district.

Churachandpur
NVD was observed at the conference hall, Deputy Commissioner's Office, Mini Secretariat, Tuibong under the aegis of the District Election Department, Churachandpur.

Speaking as the chief guest, Churachandpur DC/DEO Dharun Kumar IAS said that election is the pride of the people in the largest democratic country like India.

Besides felicitating Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for their exemplary performance, EPIC were distributed to newly enrolled voters on the occasion.

Kamjong
The District Administration Kamjong commemorated the 14th National Voters' Day at the conference hall of SDO Office, Kamjong.

The event saw the participation of a large number of young, newly eligible voters besides others.

As a part of the programme, a trivia contest open to all participants was held and garnered active participation.

Live demonstration and trial runs of the election day voting process to the participants marked the closing of the programme.

Senapati
District Election Office, Senapati celebrated the day today at Multipurpose Hall, opposite to DC Office, Senapati.

Addressing the gathering, PP Ronald, MCS, Additional District Election Officer/ Additional District Magistrate, Senapati informed that the electoral roll which has already been revised and published by January 22 will be made available at respective ERO's and Election office.

He also congratulated Mamoni Doley, IAS, DEO/ DC Senapati, Plim Reikhenamai, 47- Karong (ST) AC ERO/ SDO Purul and S Lunguiba Thangal, 49- Tadubi (ST) AC ERO/ SDO Senapati for receiving award of best DEO and EROs at the Office of CEO, Manipur for their outstanding contribution in the Special Summary Revision- 2024 .

Tamenglong
The District Administration of Tamenglong along with civil society organizations (CSOs), youth organization, media houses and academic institutions observed the day at SDO Office conference hall, Tamenglong District Headquarters.

Thoubal
Thoubal District also joined in observing the NVD organised by the District Election Office, Thoubal at the Election Counting Hall.

Additional District Election Officer/ADM, Thoubal B.Lokeshwor led the gathering in taking the National Voters Day pledge.

Ukhrul
The 14th National Voters' Day was observed at DRDA conference hall Mini Secretariat office complex, Hamleikhong Ukhrul organised by the District Election Office, Ukhrul.

An essay competition was organised for the higher secondary students of Ukhrul as a part of the programme.

It may be noted that administering of National Voters' Day pledge and felicitation of BLOs were the main highlight of the observance across the different districts today.
