Imphal, September 20 2025:
Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata along with the Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Association Manipur (AFESAM), Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), and Thadou Students' Association (TSA) have condemned the ambush on Assam Rifles personnel at Nambol Sabal Leikai yesterday.
The attack resulted in the tragic loss of two jawans and injuries to five others.
Satyabrata, in his condolence message, stated that the cowardly act was nothing but an attempt to derail the peace process being initiated in Manipur and spread fear and unrest among the people.
"Such shameful acts are utterly reprehensible and have no place in a civilised society," he said, condemning the attack.
Extending his condolences to the martyred personnel, the Speaker stated that such cowardly acts will never succeed in weakening 'our collective resolve' to bring lasting peace and stability in the State.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
AFESAM, on the other hand, stated that the ambush by the unknown armed militants in a crowded area isn't the true nature of the people who fight with certain principles and causes.
The association continued that the security forces displayed professional restraints by withholding retaliatory fire against the attackers, thereby avoiding any further collateral damages.
AFESAM noted that death is an inherent professional hazard for soldiers but emphasized that exposing civilians to the dangers of live gunfire is highly condemnable.
The association further stated that carrying out an ambush in a public place is akin to bringing the battlefield into one's own courtyard and home, an act that defies all logic.
"Let the battlefields be as far and as distant as possible," it said, accusing the attackers of using the public place as a gauzy protective shield.
AFESAM prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
TIM mourned the martyrdom of two Assam Rifles jawans.
It also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
Condemning the 'act of terror', TIM urged the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Stating that the loss of so many lives amid the violent conflict in Manipur has created frustration among the people risking further violence, TIM added that what Manipur needs is a solution and a lasting peace.
It appealed to the Government of India to address the root causes of the unrest besetting Manipur.
TSA, condemning the 'heinous act of terrorism', demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
Violence has no place in society and such incidents only derail the fragile peace process in Manipur, it said.
TSA extended its condolence to the families of the martyred jawans and also prayed for a speedy recovery of those injured.
TSA stands in solidarity with the armed forces, the bereaved families and the people of Manipur, it said.
