Imphal, May 16 2026:
By provoking and attacking the Nagas after the Meiteis, Kuki narco-terrorists have been targeting the indigenous people of Manipur one after another, and this aggression must be faced collectively, Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) president Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar said during HERICOUN's 24th foundation day observed at GM Hall, Imphal today.
The Nagas, after the Meiteis, have been targeted one after another.
No indigenous community should no longer ignore this aggression.
It must be faced and defeated collectively, Surjitkumar said.

The Kuki narco-terrorists' aggression on the Meiteis which started on May 3, 2023 killed many civilians, burnt hundreds of houses and displaced over 60,000 people.
The displaced indigenous Meiteis are still languishing in relief camps as refugees in their own State, he said.
Even though much pressure has been exerted on the Government of India to stop its "proxy war", it has not yet taken any steps to stop and crack down on Kuki narco-terrorists targeting and attacking indigenous people, Surjitkumar said.
The Government of India has also ignored the demand of the people and many civil society organisations to scrap the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement and crack down on Kuki militant groups, he added.
While the Government of India remains deaf to public demand to drive out Kuki narco-terrorists from the soil of Manipur, Surjitkumar said, the State's border villages of Wangli, Namli and Choro have faced external aggression.
On May 7, the villages in Kamjong district were attacked by suspected Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and People's Democratic Force (PDF) cadres.
Further, Kuki narco-terrorists have ambushed and killed and injured many innocent civilians in the recent days, Surjitkumar said.
The recent aggression by Kuki narco-terrorists against the Nagas has exposed a broader aggression targeting the indigenous communities of Manipur.
The indigenous communities must therefore come together and unite against this aggression as one, he added.
Retired IAS officer RK Nimai, Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) convenor Ng Akhui and former Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women, Professor Meinam Binota attended the observance, among others.
