Imphal, March 07 2025: The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal East has granted bail to two individuals, Rajkumar Bhaskar Singh and Chingtham Birjit Meitei, in connection with the firing incident at Potsangbam Khunou on March 4 .

However, Sagokpam Ibotombi Singh, the former Officer in Charge of Jiribam Police Station, has been remanded to judicial custody.

S Ibotombi Singh (43), s/o S Dhana of Ningthambam Mayai Leikai, Bakhal, Jiribam presently staying at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, Rajkumar Bhaskar Singh (42) s/o Rajkumar Surendra Singh of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai and Chingtham Birjit Meitei (42) s/o Ch Iton Singh of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai were produced before the Court by Heingang police Station with a prayer to send them to judicial custody.

The police submitted that the locals of Potsangbam Khunou handed the three accused over to Heingang Police after apprehending them for allegedly firing in the area on March 4.The Court after hearing the submission of APP, defense counsel and on perusal of the case record granted bail to Rajkumar Bhaskar Singh and Chingtham Birjit Meitei but Sagokpam Ibotombi has been remanded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, a team of Jiribam police filed another application to formally arrest Ibotombi, related to an FIR accusing him of misappropriating over Rs 7 lakh in Inner Line Permit Tax during his tenure as OC of Jiribam Police Station.

The Court has approved this application.
